The first Page news in Economic Times today is US seeks India's help to crack i-flex code. Please refer the link below

http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/US_seeks_Indias_help_to_crack_i-flex_code/articleshow/1654093.cms

As a student of ecomics, i was fed with the efficiency of Market Economics and Pure Competition. I was also

fed with Business Ethics and Investor Friendliness.

The story mentioned above is an antithesis of all that i have learned and in one gulf culled my hang over from

Business School learning. Oracle is one of icons of Corporate world along with Microsoft. Though they compete

with each other, they also Co-opt to build monopolies and reduce consumer choice, so as to ensure non availability

of alternatives.

The case above shows the unethical behviour of the corporate heavy weights. Oracle took a majority stake in i-flex,

a very popular product company launched from INDIA. As every Corporate Aristocracy does it wanted complete control

and hence gave a buy back offer. The intelligent minority investor knew the potential and refused to sell the shares.

The offer price was paltry compared to the product potential. Any smart investor would do it. After loosing the battle

on the market, Oracle is trying unethical ways and want to take back the shares by hook or crook.

This is unacceptable behavior for a company of the Mega Size of Oracle. I ask the damn question, If governments are

not supposed to intervene in Free Market Economies, why the hell did Oracle take US government help.

The most Vocal promoter of Maketenomics is US. It's so hypocritical of US to take the case with the Government of INDIA

in the first place. How can do something opposite to what you say.

We minority investors are powerless, so you will arm twist us into submission. This is how Capitocracy and Marketenomics Works.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-03-30T18:15:09Z</dcterms:modified>

Can't we have a Luggage Wagon on Trains ?

Yesterday there was a terrorist attack on the "Peace Train" between INDIA and PAKISTAN. Almost 70 people

died with a majority from "Pakistan". The continuing spate of Train attacks in INDIA is alarming and has a lot

to think about not only in the GeoPolitical sense but also interms of passenger safety.

No System can provide fool proof security. However, with use of unconventional ways the rate of such attacks

can be certainly reduced. The train that was attacked is plying between nations and hence is likely to have

reasonable security compared to others.

It is said that the security personal passed them through metal detector but didn't open and see the contents.

what is the way out ? Is the life of an INDIAN so cheap or for that matter of any human being.

I just though about it and felt that may be we should use luggage wagons to isolate all hevay luggage hence

reducing the possibility of direct impact on peoples lives....

The issue here is how do we Load and Unload luggage at Railway Stations without loss of baggage ? This also means

a train has to wait more time than its required at railway stations to Load and Unload luggage. This also means

additional administrative costs.

However, Life is more important than all those i mentioned ? Isn't it ?

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-02-21T04:53:22Z</dcterms:modified>

ReEngineering electoral Process

Today, I had the opportunity to watch the film “Sivapthigaram” which I understood as rule by blood. This movie has a social message about the need for reforms in the Electoral process and the filmy way in which hero appeals for that. It’s another movie that aims to correct the rotten political culture.

The screenplay and the pace of the movie was reasonably good and it was neatly made film. The actual attractions were from the entrepreneurship point of view. Each candidate spends a lot of money during elections for two purposes.

a) Bringing his “Brand recall” high among people by putting up posters on every damn wall

b) Pay for voters to ensure that he gets a reasonable vote bank.

Look at it, each MLA election participant spends anywhere between Rs 1 – 2 crores. Equivalent to $ 2,50,000 -5,00,000 to get himself to be identified. It’s a mega branding exercise.

For a state that has 256 seats the amount of money spent during election is 5 * 256 * 4,00,000 $. This is a whopping money spent in just a few months. The high cost incurred in such an election forces him to think of ways to get a good ROI. Corruption is the core service as a result.

Is it possible to reengineer the election process so that we can reduce the spending incurred by the contestants and hence the increase the overall benefit for the end customer (the people) ?

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-01-28T17:08:40Z</dcterms:modified>

Dare to Dream

Rarely a day passes these days without me thinking about entrepreunership or somebody talking to me about entrepreunership. One of my good friend lamented at our lack of passion in doing what we want to do. He even cited how people start their entrepreunership in garages leaving out all the easy ways to do it. In the first attempt i had to feel bad about my lack of passion. Thinking deeply i realize that garage startups may not be the great thing it sounds. They involve more hardwork than smart work ? Let me know if i am incorrect ? "Think hard and ensure that you startup with the best possible setup".

yesterday i was chatting with my colleagues about the need for entrepreunership and how little we think using the brain given by Allah(Creator,Sustainer and Cherisher). I realize the miserliness of our dreams. Many people want to start a small restaurant. Many into travel dealerships and some other into IT services.one thing is common among all and that is their wish to swim in tested water. They all want to easy money.

Every business is difficult and a good effort is required to stabilize the business. The most successful entrepreuners have always ventured into the unkown. They have dared to be different and differentiated their business from the competition because they 'think'. They have created new spaces all the time and ensured the competition is kept at arms length.
Don't we have the same brain as they have ? We do but we don't even dream. we want to have a small villa and a soap box car. I say dream to have a palace and the worlds best cars. Please for Allah's sake dream big baby..................

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2006-11-23T04:29:47Z</dcterms:modified>

Reminder Software

Many a time i have felt the need for a simple tool in my taskbar that reminds me of things. For example

As a muslim i have to pray five times a day on appointed times. Many of you might know this. So often i am engrosed in the work that i forget it. Since i can't depend on human i want to depend on the dumb software that does what i ask him to do. I want this to be done on the days and time of my choosing.

I had a disk slip, i suffer from constant back aches. One of the ways doctors suggest to reduce back aches is through walking often for a fe minutes. This really helps. So often i forget it. I want somebody to remind me to do this.

I want to relax after every 1 hour of work by reading technological updates. I forget it and waste

time reading bbc or cnn. I want somebody to remind me to do that.

There might be so many other things like having a coffee or chat or taking medicines etc.We

often forget. Don't we ? Would it not be nice to have a software that can help.....

you might ask me... why can't you do it with Microsoft Outlook . Common guys i want have a cross platform tool. This we can create and supply it as a freeware and rake in advertisement revenues.

Anybody interested to join me............
